About Me

My photo
Hi, I'm Suzanne and I'm a stay at home mother to three. I have started my own vintage furniture business and am writing this blog to document its journey from idea to reality. My favorite things include my Matthew, Ella and Sophie, my handsome husband and all things PAINT! Believe me, I am not an experienced business person but I do know how to sand, strip, paint and am a DIY queen, so please follow along as I navigate the ups and downs of The Painted Drawer. Please join in the fun and become a member or subscribe. Cheers!

Summer Days Begin

Another week and summer is here :)  The kids are home, the days are long, and we are preparing for our summer which includes a trip to Canada and another to the beach.  In between planning our trips and coordinating my kid's summer days, I have been hard at work at The Painted Drawer.

I shipped the Versailles coffee table to Cave Springs, AR using Greyhound Express and was very impressed.  Not only were they
courteous and helpful, they got my table from Maryland to Arkansas in five days, safe and sound, for only $87.00!  What a great find for me.  I now know that I can ship to more remote areas of the country for reasonable rates.   Beth was thrilled and loves the table, so I can't ask for more!   I drove by a great thrift store on the way to the Greyhound station and found a fantastic little side table.  All in all, a great experience!

Celeste came over and I helped put my French Bombe Chest in her van for her to take to On A Whim in Lucketts, VA.  I was thrilled to learn that it has been placed in a good spot and that the owner of the store is happy with it.  My first piece in a real shop - proud!

I took my girls to Frederick, MD to drop off a few pieces for the Stylish Patina Barn sale this weekend.  I also brought our dog, Lucky.  He is a schnauzer and had a blast chasing the farm's chickens and horses.  Needless to say, the farm owner was less than pleased and he is officially on the "banned" list for that farm :)  Poor dog, he loves it out there and didn't "get" the animal farm etiquette!

Lucky!

I have a pretty little side table, a few dressers, a fantastic vintage bench and a coffee table for sale at the Barn this weekend.  These pieces are also still for sale through my Etsy site.

Speaking of Etsy, Alison is stopping by on Tuesday.  She found me on Etsy and is interested in purchasing a dresser I already have and I will custom paint it for her.  Another custom piece is ready to be picked up tomorrow for Michelle and I have a very sweet desk to do for a friend.  Not to mention a few more pieces for Lucketts.  I am keeping myself busy!  Now, if only I could find someone to do all my laundry...
