French Bombe

A quick update on my original post:

My French Bombe Chest is the first piece I've had in a real "shop" which is called On A Whim and is in Lucketts, VA.  I went today (Father's Day) to take a picture of it and as I was there it was SOLD!  Such a proud moment for me :)  Here are the pics:

SOLD!

I purchased this gorgeous chest a few months ago.  It is a beautifully made, quality piece.  I was just so excited when I saw it - one of my all time best finds!  It is such a great feeling when you find something special.  It did need a bit of work to bring it back to its beauty.  I decided to paint it in Annie Sloan chalk paint.  French Linen is the main color, with the details picked out in Old White.  I then lightly distressed it and waxed it all.  That's when the top decided to give me trouble.  For some reason, there were a few marks that would just not cover well - even with chalk paint!  So, out with my sandpaper again, another few coats and it is all good.  I really love all of the detail and it was a joy to work on such a quality, well built piece.  Below is the blurb from my Etsy listing:

Elegant and beautiful, this French Bombe Chest will make a statement in any room. This unique chest is absolute quality in its workmanship with curved sides, a bowfront and stunning detail in the woodwork. The beautiful woodwork extends around from the front of the piece to the sides.  The chest is numbered on the back and is completely and totally solid wood construction. This piece has been painted in French Linen with the detail pulled out in white then lightly distressed and waxed for a hand rubbed finish. The drawers open and close easily, have their original hardware and have been freshly lined. A crystal pull in the center drawer adds a little sparkle.  The curved feet add that french charm.
