What a week it has been! No power for a full seven days. Almost unbearable heat and an upstairs that was hotter than an oven. On the positive side, my kids all got along and treated it like a huge adventure and had fun. Hey, camping in the basement with lanterns is pretty cool! Playing board games, telling stories, and going to the pool every day kept them entertained. The week was slow but sweet with my children making me laugh and my being able to enjoy every second of them because I had no internet access and the garage was too hot to breathe in - let alone paint!
The wonderful light at the end of the tunnel was our much anticipated long weekend trip to visit my sister and her family at her beach house in Amagansett. We love to see each other and have the cousins play. Amagansett is on Long Island and is just beautiful. How lucky we are to be invited every summer to spend time at their lovely home. The Hamptons are truly one of a kind with the hydrangeas, daylilies, shingle style homes, and gorgeous tree lined streets. It has a certain look to it that is all its own. A fantastic weekend to end a long, hot week!
Now that we are back home - and back in the twenty-first century - I have a whole house to clean, a ton of laundry and a ton of grocery shopping to replace every last thing in my now spotless refridgerator. I do get frustrated when all I want to do is paint but everyday life takes over and before I know it, the day is over. Summer is hard! I have decided to wake up earlier and paint in the morning in the cool before my kids wake up for swim practice.
I am trying to get as many pieces together as I can for my new space in Lucketts. My garage is bursting with many unique vintage finds that are waiting patiently for their transformations! I go to sleep thinking of my space and how I want it to look. Getting there is a long road but it is getting closer every day! I must say, I get butterflies in my stomach when I think about it :)
Congratulation on the new store. Can't wait to visit.
