About Me

My photo
Hi, I'm Suzanne and I'm a stay at home mother to three. I have started my own vintage furniture business and am writing this blog to document its journey from idea to reality. My favorite things include my Matthew, Ella and Sophie, my handsome husband and all things PAINT! Believe me, I am not an experienced business person but I do know how to sand, strip, paint and am a DIY queen, so please follow along as I navigate the ups and downs of The Painted Drawer. Please join in the fun and become a member or subscribe. Cheers!

Lucketts Spring Market

Wow, the Lucketts Spring Market was really fun!  It was great to meet so many talented and interesting people.  There were tons of fantastic items to buy and much for me to learn.  I can see why people arrive from all over the country to shop there.

I spent Wednesday getting my things ready to take over the following day to be a part of the Stylish Patina's space.  My father and I loaded up my car on Thursday morning and I spent that day traveling to Lucketts and back.  I had to race home in time for my seven year old's Brownie outing to a chocolate store and so I was more than exhausted by the end of the day!

You Win Some, You Lose Some...

Things have been happening at The Painted Drawer this week!  I am at work on a curvy, vintage chair which has been really fun.  It's being painted in Annie Sloan Old White and waxed with the clear and then dark waxes.  The dark wax has really brought this chair back to life.  All of its intricate detail has been highlighted and I absolutely love it.  I may have to keep this one for my office :) but seriously it is lovely.

Amy and her husband, Chris, stopped by this week.  She had seen the French Country Carved Oak Dresser on Etsy.  I am happy to say that she loves it and is going to give it a great new home.  It is seriously French Country with the curves along the side and the bowfront and the details!  A true vintage gem with its glass pulls and keyhole drawers - I am sure it will shine in its new home.

Curvy Legs in Miami

Another week has flown by and what a busy week it was!  In the middle of a week filled with a Geography Bowl (way to go Ciccarello's Charging Chickens for their victory with my Ella as captain) and a fifth grade field trip to Mt. Vernon (can you say, exhausting?),  I was able to hunt for new treasures for The Painted Drawer.  Well, I found... a GORGEOUS carved dresser.  When I say gorgeous, I mean spectacular.  It is the kind of piece that I just need to stare at for awhile and let it soak in.  Then I can start to organize my thoughts of where I want to go with it and have fun!
